Poets Corner
(Jolene Hilliam)

The tablet with no name.

THE ODD TABLET HER ONLY TREAT.
LOST, YOUNG, AND SO VULNERABLE,
BUT HER MIND WAS VERY UNSTABLE.
ALL SHE EVER WANTED WAS LOVE AND HOPE.,
WITHOUT THESE TWO SHE COULD NOT COPE.
THE FRIENDLY GIRL LIVED ON THE STREETS,
SCROUNGING FOR SOME FOOD,
BUT NEVER IN A BAD MOOD.
SHE NEVER KNEW HER FATHER AND MOTHER,
THE TRUTH A FEW TIMES SHE TRIED TO UNCOVER.
IT WAS HER BELOVED BOYFRIEND,
WHO HAD SET THE TABLET TREND.
AS SHE LAY ON A HOSPITAL BED,
TOTALLY LOSING HER HEAD.
HER INNOCENT, PRETTY FACE, WAS PALE AND WHITE,
SHE WAS CERTAINLY A SORRY SIGHT.
TO THE DOCTOR SHE TURNED TO THANK,
BUT IT WAS TOO LATE HER HEART HAD SANK.
IT'S FUNNY HOW A TABLET WITHOUT A NAME,
CAN BRING ONE LOST, LONELY GIRL TO FAME.
THE BOY SHE LOVED SO MUCH WAS NOWHERE TO BE SEEN,
ON HER LIFE HE OBVIOUSLEY WASN'T THAT KEEN.
THE LIFE CUT DRASTICALLY SHORT,
BECAUSE OF THE TABLET HE BROUGHT.
HE SOMETIMES VISITS HER GRAVE,
BUT NEVER GIVES A THOUGHT TO THOSE HE COULD SAVE.
FOR HE WAS JUST THE DEALER,
WHY SHOULD HE BE THE HEALER?
