Poets Corner
(Jolene Hilliam)

The valley without love...

The village not sane,
stood alone agaainst its hills,
holding darkness within.
The western side bright,
the eastern side darkness.
It had stood for 200 years,
and might stand for 200 more.
To the right it shined with love,
and to the left it doomed with hate.
On the west they feared the east,
and to the east they ruined the west.
Within; the walls continued upright,
bricks met neatly,
floors were firm,
doors shut sensibly.
Half live in sun,
half in shadow.
Silence lay now steadily against the wood and stone of the village,
and whatever walks there,
will walk alone.
Neither man nor beast will find love,
for here is where you will find
'The Valley without love.'
Here you will forever walk alone.
When you leave this dark valley,
forever you will be bitter and angry.
And always your dreams,
will be shadowed by your nightmares.
Until the day you die,
eternally in your heart you will cry.
Darkness and sadness will for an eternity overpower your life.
